I have recently encountered the problem that after the flight mode is switched of, the phone and wifi connect and work but the flight mode symbol remains displayed on the homescreen and within some apps. I was hoping to see this resolved with the recent software updates but was disappointed. This occurs on an iPhone 8. Can anybody help?

Welcome to Apple Support Communities. If I understand correctly, it sounds like you’re having an issue with Airplane Mode continuing to show on the icon in the status bar, and I’d like to see if I can help.
Is it possible that you’re enabling Wi-Fi and/or Bluetooth while Airplane Mode is still engaged? Check the “Use Wi-Fi and Bluetooth in Airplane Mode” in this article for details:

Hopefully this explains your concerns. If not, I suggest reaching out to Apple Support.

yes I do that sometimes but the problem with the status bar occurs in all configurations.

If your Airplane Mode icon is staying on outside of the explanations in that article, I would contact Apple Support.
