Can't upload HEIC photos to photo publishing websites

After the recent upgrade to macOSCatalina I can no longer upload HEIC photos to photo publishing websites. How do I make the HEIC photo formats visible (or change them to jpeg so they are visible to the photo publishing websites)?

  1. Open the HEIC image in Preview app on the Mac.
  2. Pull down the “File” menu and choose “Export”
  3. Open the submenu for “Format” and choose “JPEG” as the file format, adjust the quality as desired then choose “Save”
