iOS 12.4.4 update keeps getting corrupted

I plugged my iPhone 5S (currently at 12.4.3) into my iMac (Mojave 10.14.6, 24GB 2TB) and fired up iTunes ... at which point iTunes reported that an iOS update - 12.4.4 - is available for my iPhone.

I went ahead with the Download and Update process. I've done this several times today (after shutting down iTunes and disconnecting the phone a few times) and each time the progress bar shows the file (around 2.4GB) being downloaded and then I get an error message.

This is absurd ... it has happened each and every time the software update has been downloaded.

What next?

Hi David King1,

Let's try this.

If you have a Mac with an Ethernet port try to perform the download of iOS 12.4.4 over a hardware stable connection rather than over Wi-fi if you can.

Another thing you could try doing is perform the update over the air from the device itself using wi-fi. Once connected to a wifi network, Go to settings on your iPhone > General > Software Update.

If you don't have wifi, you can create a network using your Mac if you having an ethernet port.

Go to the Apple Menu > System Preferences > Sharing and click Internet Sharing. Where it says "share your connection from," select Ethernet. Where it says "to computers using," put a check box next to Wi-Fi. Next tick internet Sharing and you can connect your iPhone to your Mac to download and install the latest update.

Just make sure to uncheck the box next to Internet Sharing on your Mac when done.

I hope this helps.
