Settings, Siri & Search, Language was already English (Canada). iOS has been upgraded several times so the phone was already reset several times.
The word "imperial" worked. But still, this phone was marketed in Canada by Apple and a Canadian telecom and is being used in Canada, so this should be the default. If we roamed with the phone it might be understandable if the default changed, though only if the roaming country has gallons.
There is no “Canadian Gallon”. It is actually an Imperial Gallon.
