That's possible. If you have a Time Machine or other backup you can restore to the previous state from Recovery Mode.
Which update on what Mac?
Can you describe exactly what it's doing? Are you getting any error messages etc.?
yes, it goes to install, says installing on "Macintosh HD", Time bar goes from 44-42-38 minutes, then hangs and says "macOS could not be installed on your computer".
Only button is to then restart, restart then takes me back to the same place with no way out.
