iPhone and iMac, both mine, somehow different music libraries

I have had many devices over the years. Somehow, my iMac and my iPhone have different music libraries. I can consolidate purchased music, and share those between the libraries just fine.

The problem is, I have some songs on my iPhone that are my own. iTunes ignores these, no matter what I try.

I want to merge both libraries, and have all songs on both devices. Both libraries are connected to my own Apple profile.

What can I do?

Thanks,

Robert

Imported from CD on a macbook, then synced with my iPhone. The iMac has never been used to sync the data. I realise my mistake now, thank you very much. I can go to the library on my macbook, and upload the music folders to iCloud, and import them from there.

I think I was lucky. Without the macbook, these songs would have been stuck in my iPhone library. I don't understand the purpose of that. But still... thanks.
