My iPhone 8 doesn’t have a rotation lock icon.
It's in Control Center.

What iOS version are you using on your iPhone 8?
Please take a screenshot of your Control Center and post it here. I never read / heard about that missing icon.

No it’s not. And when going to control center settings it’s unavailable to add.
