Removing safari sidebar on ipad

There is no bookmark on upper left to turn off safari iPad sidebar. It is areal pain in the a@$

iPad, iOS 13

Then you are looking at something different. The bookmarks bar does not display ads. As I asked earlier can you provide a screenshot of what you are looking at? You can redact any personally identifying information.

Thanks..seems like the sidebar is a magnet for ads. I just close it.
