iPhone XR Camera White Screen, been in pocket

Hello Community,

I was on hiking trip and taking pictures intermittently with iPhone XR. The camera did not turn off when I put it back to pocket as it still took a couple of black pictures. Then when I drew it out again and took picture facing the sun, the back camera turned white, and the pictures taken were white. Re-launching the camera app did not help, it came back only when I force restarted the phone.

I'm wondering if the camera was blinded by the sunlight as human eyes would do suddenly facing bright light from darkness.

Also, how do I tell if the camera is compromised, I've never had white screen on camera before, only black screens.

Thanks

iPhone XR, iOS 13
