I set up my new iMac today and iCloud is asking me to go to one of my other devices that are logged on to iCloud and approve this iMac. When I logged on, I see my new iMac in the list of My Devices so I'm not sure what the problem is?
I also enabled two factor authentication but am having second thoughts about it given that every time I log onto my iCloud account a new verification code is sent to my iPhone.

You need another trusted device or telephone number.

A trusted device is an iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch with iOS 9 and later, or a Mac with OS X El Capitan and later that you've already signed in to using two-factor authentication.
As far as I am aware, once 2FA is enabled you cannot disable it. Apple supposedly announced there would no longer be a two-week grace period during which you could disable 2FA. You can refer to the article I previously posted: Two-factor authentication for Apple ID - Apple Supports.
Go back to where you opted in and opt out. If you have trouble doing that, call Apple support for directions.

It seems that the self-option to opt out is no longer available. Thank you for suggesting I call Apple support.
I choose not to use the Two factor authentication in that it was too cumbersome. I know it is much more secure, but I can't be bothered.
