Activation lock

So then ,

First of all there was an iCloud account on my device and I sent it to a repairer who later removed the account but then my phone became locked .

As at now I don’t know the carrier is locked to .

I want to update my iPhone to the latest iOS version .

But I’m not sure if I update it will go back to locked or not.

Any help ?

If your Apple ID and password don't unlock the phone, if you are the original owner, take the device, the original purchase receipt with the serial number, and a photo ID to the nearest Apple Store.
