Restore/erase iPad when you do not have the passcode

Hi, my daughter installed her new iPad, but I was obviously not paying enough attention, because she managed to forget her passcode, after we installed Wifi and iCloud, but before finger print ID. Now the procedure to restore does not work https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT204306 (does not take us to restore screen). How can I reset the whole thing?

There isn't another method. Are you following the instructions in hhttps://support.apple.com/en-us/HT204306

exactly? Note the the iPad needs to be off before you connect it to the computer and you then need to do one of the following (depending on the model of iPad):

iPad with Face ID: Press and hold the Top button and either volume button until the power off slider appears. Drag the slider to turn off your device. Connect your device to your computer while holding the Top button. Keep holding the Top button until you see the recovery mode screen.

or

iPad with Home button: Press and hold the Side (or Top) button until the power off slider appears. Drag the slider to turn off your device. Connect your device to your computer while holding the Home button. Keep holding the Home button until you see the recovery mode screen.
