My airpods will not connect to my phone at all

Can you please check that

1. You have genuine AirPods (find material online that shows you differences between real and fake)
2. They connect to someone else's phone. If they do connect to someone else's phone, You should try restarting your iPhone. You can also reset your AirPods by holding down the back button until the light flashes white.
