my touch id in my ipad gen 6 wont let me open the ipad

My ipad gen 6th turns on,push home button, face numerals pop up, type in number code, goes to home screen, then touch id pops up saying it's active "with a big blue OK on it" thats it no go any further, sign doesn't disperse, it just stays there and can't get past it😡

iPad Pro 9.7-inch WiFi, Cellular

Before we can determine if this is a hardware issue try the following steps.

Reboot the iPad.
Restore to an earlier backup.
Hard reset to Factory via iTunes.
