Whatsapp video call audio routing to speaker with headphones on

Hello ,

i am having this strange issue with my iphone xr . if i have already plugged in an earphone and if I receive a video call for the first time , the whatsapp video call is always on speaker mode . Inorder to route it to my earphone , i have to unplug it and plug it back again . Any idea what could be the cause for it ?

If i make the video call with earphones on , it is not routing to speaker mode . I am using the earphones provided with the apple device

iPhone XR, iOS 13

Hello vishnuvarthan47,

Thanks for reaching out to the Apple Support Communities! From your message I understand that video calls through WhatsApp are always in speaker mode. This is occurring when you have your earphones connected to your iPhone.

If this is correct, and if the issue is only occurring when you're making or receiving calls through WhatsApp, follow the steps in this article: If an app unexpectedly quits, stops responding, or won’t open

Have you tested out what happens when you try to make or receive a call with FaceTime? Does the same behavior occur?

Cheers.
