May I get a refund for AirPods that I bought for Christmas?

May I get a refund for AirPods that I bought for Christmas. They are the 2nd generation AirPods with the wireless charging case. I would like to buy the AirPod pros. May I either trade these AirPods in for the pros and pay the additional money, or may I get a refund so I may purchase the AirPod pros with that money. The box hasn’t been open. All of the original packaging is in perfect condition.
