black window opens together with Stocks app

The upgrade to v10.15.2 hasn't fixed an issue with the Stocks app for me. When I launch the Stocks app, three out of four times an extra window opens which also bears the name Stocks but has no content, only a black background.

I can close that extra window by itself but it's an annoyance.

Is there a way to prevent this from happening?

thx

Hey aprilten,

Thanks for using Apple Support Communities! I understand that the Stocks app is opening an extra window that is just a blank black screen. I definitely understand wanting to prevent this from happening, and I'm happy to help.

To start, I recommend closing the Stocks app, and then holding down the Shift key while opening. This helps make sure you're opening from a clean state. If the extra window doesn't open, go ahead and close Stocks again, and then open as you normally would one more time. If that black window reappears, I would like to have you restart your Mac in safe mode and see if the behavior continues there. The link below goes over how to restart in safe mode, and also what to do if the behavior doesn't occur in safe mode.

Use safe mode to isolate issues with your Mac

Thanks again, and have a great day!
