Have new magic mouse but it does not scroll

I have a imac (OSX Yosemite version 10.10.5) and this new magic mouse will not carry out any scroll movements. Is it because my software is so old?

Most probably as the Magic Mouse 2 needs Mac OS X 10.11 as its minimum OS

Buy Magic Mouse 2 for Mac in Silver - Apple (UK)

The model and year of your Mac will determine which macOS you can upgrade to,

Before upgrading make a full back up of your Mac.

Check that third party apps you use have updates available for the new OS.
