Time Machine

I have a new 4TB external drive to use with Time Machine on a MacBookPro, 1TB, OS High Sierra. I have more than 1 TB of stuff between the Mac and another drive, Can (or should) I partition the new drive to use 1TB for Time Machine and the remainder for other files and images? Thanks for your help.

Don’t Partition a Backup Drive:

To avoid data loss, and a dead hard drive, it’d be wise to just use this 4TB drive for none other than Time Machine Backup. Don’t partition it and don’t fiddle with it.

Use the Other Drive for the Data Storage.
