my iPhone won't update and only displays connect to iTunes and won't still update when I do

An iPhone 4s cannot be updated past iOS 9.3.4. If you need a newer iOS version, you will need a newer phone.

*9.3.6, not 9.3.4. But yes, the 4s cannot go past 9.3.x.
