shut down vs sleep

which is good?....shutting down or putting it sleep

They’re both good — depending on the circumstance, of course.


Why to Use Shutting Down:

When your on the go, most certainly shut it down, to conserve battery and and to avoid overheating and avoid hacking from remote logins.


Why to Use Seep:

If you are always awaiting messages and alerts. While it is still in sleep mode, it would still be on. So, placing a laptop cooler underneath it would be wise as its just sitting there in sleep mode.

If you are putting it in something that blocks air (a backpack) I would advise turning it off. If you are afraid someone (a child maybe) would tap random keys then turn it off.


If you are just leaving it in a safe/controlled open space for a couple of days (or weeks, if you do not mind), just leave it running if you do not want to restart work. Leaving it plugged in is safe because the Mac will not overcharge.
