keyboard backlight flickering after water damage

as subject reads- I spilt half a glass of water on the keyboard and let it dry for 36 hours. Was working fine- keyboard keys all work, volume/mouse/screen all fine. Keyboard backlight however is flickering (only observable thing wrong at the moment).

  • Is it possible that this is the only damage the water caused? And if so, is it salvageable to keep using without paying for apple complete repair?

Only time will tell if this is the only damage. It can take a little time before corrosion sets in so you may experience more issues later on (or not). The damage is already done. Whether you take it to get serviced is up to you. If this is a laptop which you rely on to always be working, then taking it in for service on your schedule is better than waiting for it to fail at an inconvenient time.
