Back cover for iPhone 11
Do IPhones require extra back plastic cover for safety?
iPhone 11 Pro, iOS 13
They do not "require" it but, if I were in your shoes, I would think about buying one.
Also screen protector? = same opinion.

I bought my case a month before my iPhone X shipped.
If it has a glass back then it needs some protection.
