USB Port Not Working

Every since I upgraded to OS MAC Catalina (Dec 2019) I can no longer find or access my usb ports when I plug my SD card or External HD or iPhone into my iMac. So now I have tons of music and photos that I can no longer transfer between devices! Ughh very frustrating. Please help!!!

Try resetting the SMC.

If your Firewire or USB isn't recognizing any device.  A solution is to simply to follow these four steps to reset the Firewire/USB bus:

1. Shut the machine down.

2. UNPLUG the power lead to the computer and any firewire/USB drive or devices.

3. leave it for 10 minutes.

4. Connect back up and reboot.
