Since installing Catalina on my iMac it behaves very weird. When idle for some hours many things change. Like it won't bring a window to Front when clicking the top bar. Also no drop down menues on the top applications bar. Also Google Chrome start opening new tabs instead of refreshing when navigating. After a restart everything is back to normal.Have tried in System preferencies but to no avail.

iMac 27" 5K, macOS 10.15

Safe Boot from the HD, (holding Shift key down at startup), does the problem occur in Safe Mode?


Safe mode attempts to repair Disks & clears lots of caches, so if Safe Mode works try again in regular boot.


EtreCheck is a simple little app to display the important details of your system configuration and allow you to copy that information to the Clipboard. It is meant to be used with Apple Support Communities to help people help you with your Mac.

Thanx for your reply. Will try your suggestion on next startup an see if that helps..Nothing we can solve in a few minutes as the problem only occurs when away for a few hours. I don't use screensaver or any other powersaving functions. The computer is ON 24/7.
