Just before Christmas I scratched the face of my Apple Watch Series 4 and I only noticed it on Christmas Day - what a present!
So what I wanted to know was if I wanted to get the scratch fixed do Apple replace the whole watch or just the screen?

There is no way of removing a scratch short of replacing the screen.
You would need to contact Apple to see what your options are and if they are covered under your warranty/apple care program.
