Upgrade from Mavericks to Catalina hangs

Gets stuck on the screen where I choose the hard drive (I have only one). Clicking the 'Install' button does nothing. Left it overnight and still nothing. What Can I do to upgrade from Mavericks?

Try a system such as El Capitan 10.11.6, or High Sierra 10.13.6.

You may need to read more info how to upgrade; & what

level system your hardware could handle. You've said little.

I'd certainly not upgrade from Mavericks direct to any newest macOS.

However if the hardware can run a certain later version, the drives

may be wiped and you could try fully new install over a reformat.

Newer systems do jump ahead a few years, its best to understand

these are detailed & may not work w/ older Mac OS X to macOS.

You might be able to use one of the other ways to install macOS.

So you may have to start in recovery (internet) and download a new

installer while using the online Utilities. Not sure why your old mac

still has Mavericks; or why you'd consider that it could run Catalina.
