I use the same charger cable for my iPhone 8 that I previously used on my 5s.

This is from ad ad for charging cables for various iPhones.

Charger Cable USB Data Lead 8 Pin compatible with Apple iPhone 11 Pro X XS Max XR 8 7 6S 6 Plus SE 5 5C 5S iPad Pro iPad Air Mini 4G iPod Touch Nano 1M White, so in effect, whatever you used to charge up your 6S will be compatible with your XS.

Then there's this, in case your are charging your iPhone from a MacBook:

For now, all iPhone models still use Apple’s proprietary Lightning cable to charge and connect the phones to computers. They all still ship with a cable that has a Lightning connector at one end and a standard USB connector at the other.

But there’s two wrinkles here: First, Apple’s newer laptops don’t have standard USB ports—they use the newer, smaller USB-C standard—so you’ll have to pick up a Lightning to USB-C cable to charge your phone from a Mac.
