My Airpod Pros Won't Connect to my Mac

I just got these airpod pros and they worked fine with my Mac (10.15.2) at first. Now they keep connecting/disconnecting repeatedly, or the connection is rejected, and I can't switch to them manually although they show up in my audio options. I've tried resetting them numerous times to no avail.

What's the next step?

Thanks!

Hi!

Thanks for the link to the article; I'd actually found that when I searched for solutions. I did all the steps (numerous times) to no avail. The AirPods connect fine to my iPhone, just not to the iMac. I've turned the wifi and the bluetooth on/off/on several times; I've forgotten/reconnected the AirPods to the iMac several times. They show up on the bluetooth list, and I get the option to connect. However, it says "connection denied" or it switches rapidly back and forth between connected/disconnected and never decides on one status. Regardless of what status it shows, when I try to switch the audio from internal to AirPods, even when I select AirPods, it goes back automatically to internal.

Any other suggestions?

Thanks, Jacquie

Hi,

I'm not sure exactly what might have finally done the trick...I tried logging in under another account, with no success. Then I tried safe mode (not really sure whether I got into safe mode or not...it looked just the same to me) and that didn't work. Then I tried the Airpods on my MacAir just to see if they'd work on the laptop...they did. Then I went back to the iMac and this time they worked.

So we seem to be good for right now. I'm wondering if it's an issue with the bluetooth connection, perhaps? When I was trying to connect them, the bluetooth just kept working, never stopping, and they'd go from connected to not connected and back and forth until finally it just said "connection denied".

At any rate, fingers crossed they'll keep working.

Thanks for your help!

rxwiz775,

Thanks for getting back in touch to let us know that these behaviors have returned.

At this point, we may want to look into the Bluetooth connection on your Mac since you mention the AirPods work with a MacBook Air and other devices. You also mention using another set of headphones with the iMac; do you experience any issues pairing these or maintaining a connection?

Take a look at this resource to see if there are any sources of potential interference: Resolve Wi-Fi and Bluetooth issues caused by wireless interference

I'd also recommend disconnecting any external devices you have connected to the iMac, then use these resources to reset the SMC and NVRAM on your Mac and test:
