I signed up for Apple Care and I wanted to see if I still was covered. Of course they ask for the Serial Number. Apple came back with a notice that the number was invalid.
I wanted to change the password on my Mac and I keep getting a notice that I need Administrator approval. I thought I was the Admministrator.
Sounds like two independent issues—

It is not an uncommon issue— not all serial numbers get registered for some unknown reason.
It does not indicate an issue with your Mac... where are you having a complication because of this?

Why do you think it is not valid? Compare it to the serial number printed on the bottom of your computer.
I did that and it matched the one in About this Mac?
So why do you think it is invalid?
The OP appears to not want to say why he thinks it is invalid. I've asked twice and now you've asked for the third time.
I contacted Apple Support and owe solved the problem Thank you Have a happy new year
