Photos App - Download Originals to this Mac - Does Not Work

With the last OS upgrade on this 2014 Macbook Pro Retina 10.15.2, Photos do not automatically download to my Mac. I have to click on each photo, then it will download from iCloud to my Mac.

It never used to work like this.

Use case. I take a photo on iPhone, open Macbook, see photo in Photos, go to attach photo to email, photo not in Finder, go back to Photos app, click on photo, photo downloads to Mac, then, can attach photo to email.

MacBook Pro 13", macOS 10.15

Make sure in Mac system preferences > iCloud the photos box is turned as on / in iPhone the photos box is turned as on see the article https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT207689

The second part of your question how to attach photos in mail , export the desired photo from photo application to the desktop ( can simply drag and drop to the desktop ) , compose the mail and attach that photo in it , fill up the credentials and send a mail to the recipient .

Also , you inquired the iPhone photos are not in Mac , sign in with same apple id and password on iPhone and Mac on the same network the photos will sync .
