Changing to zsh from bash

does changing to zsh from bash in Catalina effect or change the performance of the OS X ?

Change default shell to zsh Just upgraded from Mojave (not before time!) to Monterey. Used to use bash. Users&groups says I'm using zsh. But when I start a terminal window I'm in bash, and when I type chsh -s /bin/zsh it doesn't do a thing; just goes on using bash. I'm reading https://code2care.org/zsh/zsh-shell-mac-tutorial Should I just mv .bashrc to .zshrc (there's nothing much in it anyway), and maybe .bash_profile to .zshprofile? (or copy them over?) That page offers no guidance. Does it matter? Probably not much, I don't make that much use of the terminal window.

Problems moving from bash to zsh Ok so i spent the day today trying to configure my mac to now use zsh. I've been using and happy with bash for the past few decades, but since Catalina 10.50.7 last Fri I've been having real problems with key strokes/copied text/and tmux plugins not getting through to tmux inside my bash terminal (nothing consistent just thing not working smoothly) After spending the day installing and configuring zsh i have a problem. When i type option-v i get <fffffff> instead of √ if i go back to bash its works fine. I used brew to install zsh and have tried removing that and using the native version but i still get the same problem. Any idea what going on?

No.

You can see all the available shells from the terminal, copy and paste:

cat /etc/shells

The shell is simply an interactive login command interpreter and as a shell script command processor.

No. It just changes the shell
