Canon EOS rebel t7

Bought my wife a Canon EOS Rebel T7 for Christmas and cannot get it to connect to her Macbook Pro (Catalina) via USB. We downloaded and installed the EOS Utility 3 from Canon.

When I connect the camera via USB, the EOS utility opens, but after ten seconds or so I get an error message. "Failed to communicate with camera. Check connections."

What's remarkable is that if I connect to my PC using the same cable, the PC reads and downloads the images on the camera without any Canon software being installed.

Any ideas?

Thanks for that info and for choosing the Apple Support Communities. If I understand correctly, you are unable to get your wife's new Canon camera to work with macOS Catalina on her MacBook Pro via USB. Checked out the Canon website and here is more info to help with this:

Thanks for your help. Good to know a simple USB connection won't work with a Mac. Thankfully, we have a PC in the house.
