I have forgotten my screentime password

I have nine failed attempts for my screentime password because I can’t remember it, how do I reset it? I can’t reset my iphone without the screentime password so what should I do?

iPhone 7 Plus, iOS 13

Make sure to choose a passcode that's different from the passcode you use to unlock your device. If you can't remember a restrictions passcode that you set on a previous version of iOS or iPadOS, or you forgot your Screen Time passcode, you need to erase your device, then set it up as a new device to remove the passcode. Restoring your device from a backup won't remove your passcode.

I resolved this on 2 devices both running iOS 13.3.1. I logged out of my account on my phone and changed my Apple ID password on a PC then I was able to turn off the screen time passcode on my phone and log back into my account again. I’m not going to use this feature again until it’s improved. My iPad would not restore to factory settings because of the screen time passcode lock thankfully now it’s resolved

Arrgh!!! I found that using my own IOS device, I can in the screentime settings under my son, simply remove the need for passcode. The only thing the phone asks of me is my normal phone code (FaceID)...

Now it is completely remove, and I can probably set it up again...

Well... that's a solution to my own problem... But I still find that there are loads of room for improvement from Apple in this area, because screentime is a really useful feature.

This must be a total mistake done by Apple... I cannot see any reason why this should not be doable without a complete restore of either IOS device or user account on mac...

My son has a phone and a profile on our shared computer. I honestly thought that the 4-digit screentime password was the same across both devices. So I changed in on the computer logged in as myself (administrator) to something he didn't know. And by a mistake (and an assumption, that I could always recover it) I totally forgot what I changed it to. My son however didn't notice anything, because the code was the same on his device. We talked about it, and to tease me he found out how to change it on the phone... and then he forgot the password :)

My wife could in her first try alter the settings on his screentime using my original 4-digit passcode... But she cannot remove the password, because she gets prompted to type in a password, which is not the original one...

And with no way of resetting the password either on his phone or on the useraccount on the mac or my wife account, or my account, the settings are locked!

IMO Apple should not ever have put this password-feature on the street without a simple user enabled way of understanding, sharing and maintaining the passwords...

Not, it is a total triumph by Apple to prevent smart kids from resetting the Screen Time passcode to bypass parental controls. If there was any way to bypass it I can assure you that every kid in the world would know it.
