No way to enter the two factor authentication code on the Apple TV

I have a third generation Apple TV. I have an active Apple TV Plus Account. When I try to watch a show, two-party verification is required. TV screen goes blank, I get the code on my phone, but there is no way to enter the code on the TV. ***????
