can’t update my iCloud settings because I can’t figure out how to approve the device from my iPhone 10

I am being asked to update my iCloud settings on my Mac air but I reach a point where it asks me to go to another devise signed in to iCloud to approve the computer. I have signed into iCloud on my phone but I see no request to approve. How do I do this?

Were you signed into iCloud on the phone before you tried to update settings on the Air? Try restarting the computer and the phone and try again.
