does anyone know what that might be?

Looks suspiciously like a box-knife blade ... too many straight lines and that funny slot in the middle.

Since it is inside the screen I would guess a support brace is loose.

But that is just a guess. Genius Bar may have their own opinion and definitely have the expertise/parts to do something about it.
