I have a right replacement AirPod that has A2825 as the model number. Do I have a real AirPod or not?

I bought a right replacement AirPod off of eBay and I’ve checked the model number on the AirPod itself and it says it’s a model A2825. On the original AirPod(left), the model number is A2031 which is the 2nd generation airpods. As of right now, the replacement AirPod does not work and is not recognized when inserting into the case and when I try to sync the two, I get the red error as shown in the pic. Did I scammed?

Hi there Calypso85,

Thank you for using the Apple Support Communities! I understand you replaced your right AirPod, however, you are unable to pair it with your device. I can help.

Based on the details shared, A2825 is not a supported model for Apple AirPods. You'll see the current model of Apple AirPods offered here: Identify your AirPods - Apple Support. Your original AirPod model A2031 is the AirPods (2nd generation). When you replace your AirPods, you need to replace it with the same model AirPod in order to be able to pair it successfully with your original AirPod and case.

Consider reaching out to Apple directly, to discuss replacement AirPod options: AirPods Repair - Official Apple Support.

Your purchase through Ebay, however, will need to be handled with Ebay directly.

Best regards.
