Unwanted overlapping audio

I am making a CD, with short voice clips between the songs. Each voice clip begins alone like it should, but before each ends the music starts over each voice clip. Elsewhere in iTunes I have these voice clips one after another, and this still happens. What should I do to make whatever comes after each voice clip NOT commence until said voice clip is done?

If *Cross Fade* is turned on in iTunes prefs -> Playback, songs will play over each other.

Select the tracks on the album, right click - get info.
Click the Options tab and tick *Part of gapless album*. Now these songs when played consecutively will not fade over each other.

I got that backwards. If CDs are made with segued tracks the next track starts at the beginning of the fade. The previous track ends abruptly at the beginning of the fade. It sounds like someone made a full length recording and made the track start points at the end of the vocal tracks.

There is no way to fix this.

Chris, the OP doesn't mention fades at the beginning of the vocal parts, only the end. It sounds like iTunes crossfade is not doing this.

It sounds like your iPhone created an "End Of Message" marker just ahead of the intended end of message. That is why the next event starts early and overlaps.

Audicity is a free audio editing program. I would try that to re-edit your voice bits. You can save them as the AIFF files you need for creating CDs.

I use Audicity for TV voiceover work, btw.
