OMG.. I think I just finally figured out how to get rid of Chromium off my mac. I think it's gone. Here's how I did it. There were multiple steps, and I tried several of them before without any luck so you have to do all of this in the right sequence:

  1. Power off your Mac and then start it up again so that you're starting afresh.
  2. Force Quit Chromium and quit all apps/programs
  3. Click somewhere on your desktop, and then open the GO menu at the top. Inside the GO menu, open the Library. If you don't see it as an option, hold down the Option key while you're in the GO menu and the Library should appear as an option. Go into the Library.
  4. Once you are in the Library, open the Applications Support menu. Find Chromium and drag it to the trash. Do the same thing in the Cache and Preferences menus within the library. It also doesn't hurt to do a search within the Library to find ALL items associated with "Chromium" and drag them to the trash. Once you have done this, exit the Library, and go into the finder and **empty the trash**.
  5. This next step was the one I was missing and what got me so frustrated! Go to the Apple symbol at the upper left corner of your screen and go into System Preferences. Go into Users and Groups. Find yourself as a user and near the top of the window you will see two tabs for "password" and "login items". Click on "login items". It should list all of the items that are set to open when you log in to your computer, and Chromium should be listed. You can't just hide it, you have to get rid of it. Go to the plus/minus signs and hit the minus sign until you get rid of Chromium and anything else you do NOT want to see when you start your computer up. (I got rid of everything in there including Chromium by hitting the minus sign.) Once you have gotten rid of everything in that list, you can exit out of that window by clicking the red x at the upper left.
  6. Go back to your home screen, make sure your trash is empty. If it is not empty, empty the trash.
  7. Shut down/restart your computer. Hopefully this will finally get rid of the thing for you too!

Good luck!

EtreCheck is a simple little app to display the important details of your system configuration and allow you to copy that information to the Clipboard. It is meant to be used with Apple Support Communities to help people help you with your Mac.

Pastebin is a good place to paste the whole report...

Workable but harder for me to work with...the Note tool on the bottom of this editor's toolbar, as shown in the image, to copy and paste the output from EtreCheck.
