Magic Trackpad Lagging (on MacBook Pro 16-inch)

Out of the blue my bluetooth Magic Trackpad 2 just started lagging. I didn't install any new software, nothing has changed, but suddenly the pointer doesn't respond immediately when I move my finger, but after a second or two jumps to where my finger is and then works. This has become very problematic for me to the point where I can't work.

Notes:

  • I have reset the NVRAM and the SMC
  • Deleted the contents of the ~Library/Caches folder
  • System is updated to the current Catalina 10.15.2.
  • No malware (machine is brand new, only Adobe is installed)
  • Removed the device from the computer and re-added it
  • Deleted the trackpad .plist file
  • Bluetooth keyboard works fine

ALSO NOTE: If I connect the device to the computer directly via USB cable it works just fine. But when it is being used with bluetooth it lags.

I am at a loss what else to do to get this thing working again. Would be most grateful for suggestions, thanks!

Well... I just fixed it and the solution was so simple I'm laughing that I didn't think to try this in the first place. I turned the trackpad off and back on, and viola!

In my defense I forgot there was even an on/off button on the back of these things, and even when I realized there was I didn't imagine it would actually fix my issue (which I thought was the fault of the computer).

Anyway, if this helps someone else who is as dumb as me someday then it was all worth it :)
