Alerts for messages not appearing either by sound or visually on iPhone XR, IOS 13.3 installed. Have tried various suggestions to no avail?

iphone 12 pro max not receiving alerts My new iPhone 12 Pro max is not receiving message alerts of any kind (sound or vibration) and is not receiving alerts form the Calendar app. The sounds for both are turned on the phone is off the silent mode and the Do Not Disturb is off. The phone was reset completely and backed off the iCloud but that did not solve the problem. What can I do to fix this ?

Make sure that Do Not Disturb is not on, and verify that you have Settings>Notifications>Messages configured for alerts.
