Pixelation issues
Has anyone ever seen this pixelation before and found a solution? It’s the background, around icons/notifications, and around windows. I have a mid 2012 macbook pro

To be optimistic you can —
Try resetting NVRAM/PRAM http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1379
Try resetting the SMC https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT201295
I suspect you have a failed GPU (soldered to the logicboard)
The mid-2012 has two GPU can try switching to the other to get by. Here is some ref to dig through:
