Was recent phone call a scam? I received an automated call just now telling me that my iCloud account has been compromised and that I shouldn't use my apple devices to check any financial statuses I may have, eg banking. Is this true or a scam??

It is a fairly common scam. Apple does not make unsolicited phone calls.
