Disconnect the computer from the Internet until you are able to attend the computer. You can make whatever changes are needed before reconnecting the Ethernet cable or turning on Wi-Fi.

I got a message saying upgrade will happen overnight. I don't have auto update checked. This appears to be a statement and not an option.
