Fans
Jumping in here...not a question...just a comment. I just got my 16" yesterday and just opening the lid and having anything open (google search, safari search, even playing solitaire makes the fans go on and they stay on as long as I'm on the machine. They seem to constantly run quietly and then they ramp up pretty loudly. They are much louder than my 2014 MBP. I even have my machine sitting on top of a laptop cooling fan (I had my old 2014 MBP on top of it because that machine got uncomfortably hot to have on my lap-thought "it couldn't hurt" to use it with the new machine as well), but with or without it sitting on top of the cooling fan, the internal fans go on constantly. I could understand if I was editing photos on photoshop or have multiple screens open, but I don't. I'm simply running one program at a time. I'm wondering if it's just the way things are now with a larger CPU. I've waited YEARS for this machine, and as soon as they came out, I bit the bullet and ordered one, so I'm going to give it a little time to see if I get used to the sound. If I can't, I'm going to return this $4,800 unit and just keep my 2014 until Apple deals with this issue. My daughter has a 17" gaming laptop that has tremendous fans and it's not as noisy as this one is.
