iphone X sim lock

Good evening every one, i got an iPhone x from a friend in the USA, im from Jordan and i tried to put an sim in it but it wont work so i checked and they told me thats its sim locked(by AT&T 38.1), my question is how can i unlock it and use here in my country in a normal way, and if i was able to unlock it does it effect the phone in the future in any way?

Contact your friend in the US and tell him he needs to get AT&T to unlock the phone. Be aware that AT&T may not unlock the phone if money is still owed on the contract he had with AT&T. If AT&T is willing to unlock the phone, the following link will help you once they have unlocked the phone --> How to unlock your iPhone for use with a different carrier - Apple Support


If however, AT&T is unwilling to unlock the phone, there's nothing anyone can do to help you.
