Remove Top Sites function from safari 4.0.0?

Upgraded to Safari 4.0.4 and would like to stop the Top Sites window from ever coming up.. Do not need that function. How to get it to stop?

If it cannot be done, what's involved with going back to the 3x version I was using (have it cloned on external hard drives)

Thanks
Cary

HI Cary,

Go here for instructions to disable TopSites.

http://www.macosxtips.co.uk/index_files/12-tips-for-safari-4-beta.html

Not totally sure that Terminal command will work for Safari 5 but worth a try.

Your profile indicates you are running v10.4.11. The minimum requirements for Tiger are Safari 4.

If you want to revert to a previous version of Safari, go here.

Thanks Carolyn and Baltwo...
From your reference I ended up at a different site with many posts, all saying the same thing:
that they experienced many problems running Safari 4 while running OS 10.4.11 on their Macs.
Also that Safari 3.2x versions work okay in 10.4.11 (many users having to stay with Tiger due to an accounting software that does not work with later Mac OS versions. Quite a few opinions on ways to downgrade Safari 4. The one I chose was to use Pacifist and install Safari 3.2.3 in place of 4.0.4 which it did quite easily and nicely.
Thanks for the help. Without your reference I'd not have found that other site which was this one:
