Apple Airpods message "This is a serial number for a product that has been replaced”

I purchased Apple AirPods from my son’s school fundraiser. When I attempt to get Apple care, I receive a message that states, “this is a serial number for a product that has been replaced”. I’m not sure what to do?

Those will be AirPods that were supposed to be returned. The person who donated them should have returned them or they bought them from someone who should have.

Hit the contact us link and find out.

Maybe the airpods you bought were supposed to be returned to apple as part of a warranty repair.
