Is there a way so save your pins on Maps. I like to 'pin' all the places visited on vacation. It is possible with Google Maps, but I don't want to use Google (Maps). Are there other possibilities?

Yes yes.
Control click and drop pin at desired location.
Save pin to favorites.
Go up to search spyglass and allow it to pull up favorites.
It will pull up said favorite. Click on it and in the lower left of info there's an edit button and you can then edit the pin.
Then when you open maps, you can always click back on favorites to see them all as well as sharing.
You can save a location as favorite. Drop a Pin -> Show its info ("i" circled icon) -> Press the heart button. Saved pins are found under Favorites in the search bar.
